EMPH Hosts Second Annual Memorial Lecture in Honor of Dr. Barbara Brenner with Panel of Community Partners

On January 31st, the Department of Environmental Medicine together with the Mount Sinai Clinical & Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program Community and Collaboration Core hosted a panel of new and long-time community partners in honor of Dr. Barbara Brenner’s legacy of centering community. Panelists included CTSA mini-grant awardees from Concrete Safaris (Mac Levine, MPH), Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Services (Ray Lopez, CHW), and Sixth Street Community Center (Jen Chantrtanapichate). The mini-grant program fosters community academic partnerships that strengthen capacity to translate research to action for environmental justice communities. Participants shared highlights of the work that they do to improve the health of their communities as well as challenges and potential areas for academic partnership.
