in conversation with
Iliyan Ivanov, MD, Professor of Psychiatry, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Site Division Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Morningside

Megan K. Horton, PhD MPH works within the ongoing longitudinal birth cohort in Mexico City called PROGRESS. In this webinar, she will discuss cutting edge research linking early life metal exposure reconstructed from baby teeth with structural and function brain changes measured using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in children and adolescents. She will also discuss how metal exposures may increase risk for mental health concerns in children, including anxiety, depression, and maladaptive risk taking. Dr. Iliyan Ivanov will share his insights on the use of imaging techniques in clinical practice and the role the environment plays in impacting, understanding, and treating adolescent mental health conditions.
Introduction by Sarah Evans, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
This discussion is part of a community webinar series organized by the Mount Sinai Institute for Exposomic Research. Through these talks, scientists share the latest research on how the environment affects health. We aim to translate our science to empower families and communities to understand the science and make the lifestyle changes that matter most. It is supported by grant #UL1TR004419 from the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program, which is part of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS).
